The use of light-emitting electronic devices for example tablets at night time can negatively influence the internal clock of the people and thus disturb the sleep rhythm. The researchers revealed this in a study published by the US National Academy of Sciences.”Our results show that the electric light, which we are exposed to between dusk and bedtime has profound biological effects” said the American scientists.
Anne-Marie Chang is assistant professor of bio-behavioral health at Pennsylvania State University. She said that “Electronic devices emit light that is short-wavelength-enriched light, which has a higher concentration of blue light than natural light. This is different from natural light in composition, having a greater impact on sleep and circadian rhythms. The most surprising finding was that individuals using the e-reader would be more tired and take to become alert the next morning”.
