The Firexfox OS was the talk of the day at MWC in Barcelona. ZTE and Alcatel have already made their Firefox OS devices public but now sony is also showing interest in the Operating system for low priced mobile phones. This makes Sony the 5th phone maker to commit to Mozilla’s Operating system.
Sony has published an entry to Mozilla’s Firexfox OS on his own developers blog. The Japenese shared the news previously in a press release that they are currently working with telefonica to bring the Firefox OS on Sony Mobile phones. Sony Mobile reported earlier that it will also work with other operator partners on developing Firefox OS devices.This system together with HML5, CSS plus other open web standards have reportedly great potential.
Mr. Bob Ishida (Head of Sony Mobile) said in a briefing :
“Our engineers are now working with Firefox OS Mobile and HTML5, evolving technologies which show great potential. In addition, we continue to work with our operator partners, including Telefónica, on a development project with an ambition to bring a product to market in 2014.”
According to the sony’s announcement, Sony’s Low Priced Smartphones having Firefox OS will be launched in the market in 2014 for the first time with telefonica partnership. Best wishes for firefox team and Sony.
