The World’s First Metal Gun Pritend on a 3D Printer

Firearms from the 3D printers were only a horror vision up to now. A vision because the products made of plastic  can only keep up with few shots, they are inaccurate and finally burst into pieces. An engineering company “Solid Concepts” from california has solved this problem. They have introduced metal 3D printing to the world as a viable solution for fully functional firearm prototypes. The company’s experts made several tests and awarded excellent values.Their 3D printer produced a gun from metal powder, which has already endured about 50 successful rounds and hit a few bull’s eyes at over 27 meters distance providing accurate results. This gun consists of more than 30, 3D-printed pieces, including stainless steel and other metal parts.

The company’s vice president Kent Firestone said “The whole concept of using a laser sintering process to 3D print a metal gun revolves around proving the reliability, accuracy and usability of 3D metal printing”.

The method of 3-D printing will not work on commercially available high-speed printers, but only with costly industrial printers and special materials. Solid Concepts claims to be the only company in the U.S. that is equipped with such 3-D printers and a license for the production of 3D weapons at the same time. The license “Federal Firearms Licence” entitles “Solid Concepts” as a sole 3D printing company for the production of such weapons.
