An Inside Look: United Airlines’ Nerve Center

In downtown Chicago, the 27th floor of the Willis Tower houses United’s network operations center. The NOC monitors all of the airlines’ 1,800 daily flights and dispatchers can talk to any of the pilots in the air at any time.

All the workstations are virtualized and run off a UNISYS mainframe, thus workers can switch computers without missing a beat, this is one of the most interesting thing about the united airlines’ nerve center
